2012 Secondary InterSchool Competition

The 2012 Secondary Schools tournament was held at Perth Modern School, on Saturday May 12th.

That we only had seven teams competing is largely down to me. We really need an organiser with enough time and energy to do the job properly, rather than have me trying to scrape the competition together at the last minute. If there is someone out there who is interested in the job, PLEASE let me know.

Because of the numbers, we ran the event as a round robin. This was a bit unfair on the one C Grade team to enter, as they were constantly playing A Grade teams. However, they seemed to keep their spirits up throughout.

The top Perth Modern team was expected to win, and so they did, holding off a tenacious Christchurch team by a comfortable margin. In the match between these two teams, a second member of the Israel family fell foul of the rule that prevents bystanders pointing out such things as loss on time. Therefore, Neville Shah had to forfeit his potential win against his Christchurch opponent, Chris Doukakis. Fortunately, this did not affect any of the overall results.

The All Saints B Grade team did well, finishing third overall. In fact, All Saints proved themselves to be masters of strategy, being the sole entrants in B and C Grades, thus guaranteeing themselves two trophies.
