The 2025 Bunbury Open was played on the 17th & 18th of May at Manea Senior College in Bunbury.

The Bunbury Open was a huge success! We had 22 players from Perth and the Southwest compete over two days of classical chess. Congratulations to our new Bunbury Open Champion Alice O'Gorman with an undefeated 5.5/6! Simply too good! Also well done to Michael Gunawan taking 2nd place in his first tournament with 4.5/6! It was also an honour to have 3x WA State champion David Ellis come down and play! Aidan Malik won the David vs Goliath prize in round 1 overcoming a 541 rating difference!
