WA Rapid Grand Prix


The CAWA Rapid Grand Prix follows a similar format to the normal WA Grand Prix. For the purpose of this series, Rapid means any tournament with a time control of 15 minutes, or less. The games played will also be rated and the results included in the WA Rapid Rating List.

Rapid Grand Prix awards are determined by accumulating points in each GP tournament. Points are awarded as follows: 1st = 12, 2nd = 10, 3rd = 8, 4th = 7, 5th = 6, 6th = 5, 7th = 4, 8th = 3 and participation = 2 (if no other points).

There are four divisions: Premier (all players), Major (players rated under 1850), Minor (players rated under 1550), Junior.

Ratings are taken from the final rating list of previous year. These ratings continue for whole year despite official periodic changes.

The events are: Valentines Day Lightning, Anzac Day Lightning, WA Allegro, WA Lightning, GP Allegro & Spring Lightning.
