On the 6th of March 2016, English Grandmaster Nigel Short gave a very informative lecture and played a simul at the Rhein-Donnau Club in Melville.|
The visit, which attracted a lot of interest, with more than 100 enthusiasts attending was an outstanding success. After the talk, Nigel took on 31 of WA's best chess players in the simul.

Nigel won 25 games, lost 1 game to Patrick Gong and conceded 5 draws to: Tristan Boyd, Tom Donaldson, Edik Gilmetdinov, Andrew Hardegen & Adam Kelly.
